Sustainability

Commitment to Sustainability and Regulatory Compliance
At Bioena, we produce renewable biofuels using only non-commercial wood, sawmill residues, and forest waste from commercial plantations duly registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and local authorities. This ensures that our raw materials come from legal and sustainable sources, complying with both national and international regulations.
Our operations promote the efficient use of forest resources, preventing biomass waste and encouraging responsible plantation management. By following these principles, we reduce the global carbon footprint by replacing fossil fuels while also supporting forest ecosystem health, preventing the accumulation of combustible materials that can increase the risk of wildfires and pests.

With a strong commitment to traceability and transparency, we ensure that every ton of processed raw material meets the highest sustainability standards, providing our clients with a reliable, renewable, and environmentally responsible energy solution.
We Stand Behind Our Sustainability Strategy
At Bioena, we back every action with a clear and measurable sustainability strategy. Our commitment to renewable energy, responsible forest resource management, and compliance with national and international regulations is not just a standard—it is the foundation of our business. We firmly believe that sustainable bioenergy is key to the energy transition, and we work daily to ensure that our operations have a positive impact on the climate, forests, and communities.
As a demonstration of our commitment to sustainability, we hold the following certifications and adhere to some global standards:
Standards and Regulations We Comply With

EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation)
We align with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), ensuring that all our biomass comes from verified and sustainable sources, without contributing to deforestation or the degradation of natural ecosystems.

RED III (EU Renewable Energy Directive III)
We comply with the EU Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III), which sets strict criteria to ensure that biomass used for energy generation is sustainable, low-carbon, and contributes to the EU’s decarbonization goals.

IFC ESG Standards
We adhere to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a global framework that ensures our operations minimize environmental impact, respect community rights, and adopt transparent and responsible governance practices. These standards guarantee that our activities are sustainable, aligned with international best practices, and contribute to economic and social development.
Our Sustainability Certifications:

SBP (Sustainable Biomass Program)
We are SBP-certified, a globally recognized standard ensuring that our biomass meets strict sustainability, traceability, and environmental responsibility criteria throughout the supply chain.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
Our raw materials come from FSC-certified sources, ensuring that forest management is responsible, promotes biodiversity, and supports the well-being of local communities.
